Bryce Canyon is a labyrinth of rust-colored hoodoos, sculpted year after year by ice, wind, and rain. The canyon is a living archive of geological time, and it keeps moving.

For this work, stones from inside the canyon were ground by hand into the pigments of the painting. The rust and ochre of the canvas come from the rock itself. The painting carries a physical fragment of Bryce.

The SOUL version reads as landscape rather than portrait. The same place, painted in the same materials, with the canyon's geometry allowed to dominate.
