Fragments of Fire & Depth is a set of four small paintings, made together from two geothermal sites in Yellowstone. Two of the works are built around the deep blue of the Abyss Pool. Two around the orange of the calcite-rich Prismatic Springs. Both sites sit on a system that does not stand still, in a region warming faster than the global average.

Each painting holds stones, minerals, and sand collected at the relevant location. The materials are pressed into the surface so the texture becomes part of the image. Together the four works form one fragmentary portrait of Yellowstone's geothermal landscape.
