Where Ice Cracks – MIND, Perito Moreno Glacier
Dimensions: 160 cm × 120 cm × 2 cm
Materials: Acrylic paste, paint, resin, gold leaf · glacier-zone minerals (pigments collected on location)
Year: 2026
Series: End of the World
The glaciers of Patagonia are visibly retreating. Each season the ice front draws back further, exposing rock last seen thousands of years ago. Walking up to the Perito Moreno is walking towards a soundscape: cracks, groans, the periodic collapse of a wall of ice into the lake below.
The work translates the glacier into thick structural pigment, with glass-blue resin layers carrying the cold light of the ice. Minerals collected at the glacier edge are ground into the painting. A portrait surfaces in the structure of the ice.
