Series: End of the World
Ushuaia calls itself the end of the world. The land runs out, the southern ocean begins, and the shoreline holds shapes the wind, ice and tide have worked over centuries. The triptych is dedicated to those forms: the broken edge where land meets water, the worn stone, the slow drag of light at the end of the continent.
Three smaller works hold the place together. Minerals from the shoreline are ground into pigment, with cold light and the sub-Antarctic palette carried into each panel. Each painting surfaces a different structure of the land, in the materials the place itself produced.
